Open Farm Day

Open Farm Day is a province wide event on September 20th, 2015 that creates the opportunity for participating Nova Scotia farmers to open their doors to members of their community. We’re giving you a backstage pass to meet your farmer, and really see where your food comes from. We also want you to have a first hand glance at our farmers’ hard work and dedication to top quality products and services.

Please take advantage of this great opportunity and visit as many of these farms as possible. Share stories, ask questions, get involved and most importantly have fun!

In the immediate neighborhood of the FoxCreek Community, Scott & Vicky open their doors at the Millennium Gardens Farm in Mill Village at 339, Mill Village East Rd.

Mersey Art Society Show “Body Beautiful”

Body Beautiful is an art show focused on work based on the human figure featured by seven artists living in this area :

  • Bruce Herrington
  • Kristen Lewis
  • Roger Savage
  • Janet Stewart
  • Dennis Teakle
  • Fran Whitelaw
  • David Wright

In this studio show much of the work is still unframed; the idea being it’s representative of the studio sessions the artists have on a regular basis.

The show is held at the Lighthouse Park Warehouse Building in Port Medway and opens with a reception on Friday, 7-Aug-2015 from 5 to 8pm and continues Saturday & Sunday, 8/9-Aug-2015 from 11am to 5pm. Click here for details.

25% of funds raised go to improvements of the Warehouse building.

We invite you all to come have a look at the works of our local artists and possibly help with the Warehouse building improvements – a building at the Port Medway Lighthouse Park where a lot is happening this summer. Check out the event calendar.

The Medway Area Through Time

MedwayArea.org happily announces that the bi-annual Port Medway History Show is back!

The show is a celebration of the history of the Medway River area from Port Medway up river to Mill Village, Charleston and Greenfield, spanning the approximate 10,000 years from the retreat of the glaciers to the dawn of the space age. Now in its fifth year, this major exhibit features music, artifacts, photos, maps, videos, films, tours and more!

For 2015, the show is titled
The Medway Area Through Time – 10’000 Years of Connections

In addition to an amazing collection of historical photographs and documents, there will be videos profiling the Old Cemetery as well as current photos of Port and the Cemetery taken from high above by a drone camera … state of the art – you might call this “From Stone Age to Space Age”.

Of special interest, we will premiere the trailer to our Earth Station Satellite video…currently in production, featuring interviews with employees who worked at the former Teleglobe station in Charleston.

The Port Medway History Show opens with live music and a reception on 17-July-2015 from 5pm-8pm and then continue on 18-Jul  & 19-Jul from 10am until 6pm.

It’s a fascinating look at life along the Medway in the previous century until today. You won’t be disappointed, so please come down to the Warehouse building in Port Medway Lighthouse Park.
