Jenney, Garry and Ruth Parker have been singing together since they were very small. They took a year or so of piano lessons early on, but the first instrument that seriously interested them was the guitar. Garry began playing guitar when he was 8 years old and gradually came to love it. Jenney and Ruth, not wanting to be left behind, took up the mandolin and fiddle about a year later.

[QPEC] The Parker children began stage performance at the ages of 4-5 years old, singing and acting out plays through church and private school.

Their first secular stage appearance was on November 26, 2013, when their Aunt Lois Lutz invited them to join her in a 10-minute segment on Eastlink's Christmas Mommies and Daddies in Aylesford, NS. The Lion's Club, who hosted this event, then invited Lois and the kids to their stage the following January. This is when the Country Kids became a band, and they have been entertaining many wonderful, music-loving audiences throughout this part of Nova Scotia (within a 150-mile radius of home).

In May, Kristina McCulley joined the group. Her sweet, yodeling voice was a great addition to the band. She sang with the Country Kids for about 9 months, during which time they recorded their first CD, entitled "The Country Kids."

At the present time, the three Country Kids play the guitar, base, fiddle, and mandolin. They have a very busy schedule, averaging four performances per month, including seniors' events, church services, fund raisers, variety shows, festivals, and local fairs.

Following up their performance at the Hank Snow Country Tribute make sure you do not miss this special evening at Queens Place Emera Centre!

Fun for the entire family!
