[update] Complete Open Fire Ban in effect in all of Nova Scotia

[Update: Land & Forestry, 2-Jun-2020: ] Open Fire Ban is cancelled. However, it is still mandatory to consult the Burning Restrictions web site before starting any fire outdoors.
Burning is NOT permitted daily between 8am and 2pm!

The province-wide ban on open fires – those within 305 metres (1,000 feet) of woods anywhere in the province including domestic brush burning and beach fires – has been extended to Monday, June 1 at 11:59 p.m.

[Lands & Forestry, 25-Mar-2020:] Open Fire Ban in Effect
The province has banned open fires in an effort to reduce the risk of wildfires, which would place further pressure on our province’s firefighting resources. The ban prohibits setting open fires for any purpose in woods or within 305 metres (1,000 feet) of woods in any part of the province.

A ban on open fires is in effect to protect Nova Scotia’s forests during the COVID-19 pandemic,
• The ban prohibits open fires for any purpose in woods or within 305 metres (1,000 feet) of woods in any part of the province,
• The fire ban will remain in effect until May 15, 2020 1-Jun-2020
• Lands and Forestry’s wildfire fighters are ready to respond to fire emergencies,
• The public can report wildfires by calling 1-800-565-2224.
