Historic Medway Head Lighthouse now open for visitors

[South Shore Breaker, 31-Jul-2018/Vernon Oickle] Following several years of fundraising and renovations, the Medway Head Lighthouse in the Region of Queens is now open for visitors.

According to members of the Medway Lighthouse Society, the historical building located on the picturesque Long Cove Road, has undergone significant structural enhancements and interior refurbishments since the group assumed control of the building in 2014.

FoxCreek Community Access Roads Graded

On 30/31-May-2018 both our access roads to the FoxCreek community
Old Kettle Rd from Mill Village to the Fox Creek turnaround
Medway Harbour Rd, from Hwy 331 to the turnaround
have been leveled. The grader scraped all the gravel (and dirt) back onto the roads that was pushed to side during snow removal.

While the roads look nice and smooth, they are not – smooth.

[Region of Queens Municipality] The Spring/Summer issue of Municipal Matters was mailed to all mailing addresses in Queens County last week.

[Editor] The property tax bills for 2018 have been sent out this week. You should receive them shortly or can download them online if you have signed up for ePost.
The tax rate this year was increased by 2 cents to CAD $1.04 per CAD *100.– assessment value.

DYK: Lyme Disease and the Risk in NS

[Region of Queens Municipality] It’s that time of year again … time to do a daily “tick check”. Black legged ticks carry Lyme disease, which may be transmitted to humans and pets if bitten by an infected tick.
