FOXweather website offline

Again Today, Sunday, 21-Feb-2016,  our websites – FOXweather, FOXlive and FOXnews –  were unreachable from 14:10h to 15:22h AST. This time the cause was a network disruption at the Level3 network provider in Switzerland.

Twitter, WeatherUnderground and WeatherCloud feeds were unaffected and kept up-to-date.

No weather related data was lost.

Thank you for your patience.

FOXweather website offline

Today, Saturday, 26-Dec-2015, the FOXweather & FOXlive websites were partially offline and/or not reachable.

Between 07:50am and 3:20pm today the sites could not be reached from any Bell/Alliant ISP network. Other ISPs seem to work.
This also caused weather data uploads to fail.
As an interim solution we found a way to reroute the uploads via a VPN host in Europe. The websites were updated again as of 1:50pm.

Uploads to Weather Underground& Awekas were disrupted between 12:25pm and 3:23pm.

Normal data routing was restored at 3:23pm – when access from Bell/Aliant ISP was possible again.

Unfortunately the cause of the outage remains unknown.

No weather related data was lost.

We apologize for the offline and thank our viewers for their patience.

Power Outage, 7-Aug-2015

Today, 7-Augr-2015, the FoxCreek community experienced a power outage from 2:35pm to 4:38 pm.

Communities from Milton/Liverpool up to the Camperdown/Lapland area and including E/W Berlin, Port/East Port Medway, Voglers Cove, Cherry Hill and Broad Cove were also affected.

Edit: 8-Aug-2015
The outage was caused by a crane collapsing on power lines in Milton.
See here for details …

FOXweather was not affected and data was updated and broadcasted during the outage.
FOXlive was updated but unable to broadcast its data.

All is well at the time of this post.

FOXweather down due to lightning stroke

Last night a heavy thunderstorm passed over Queens county and quite a few flashes occurred close to FOXweather.
This sadly caused some weather equipment to spark resulting in a station outage from 4-Aug-2015/22:52 ADT to 23:54 ADT.

All systems could be recovered and no data was lost.
However the FOXcam Southwest got damaged and needs replacement. This will take a few days. Stay tuned.
