Changes in Sorting Your Blue Bag !!!
NEW: 2 Blue/Clear Bag System effective 1-Jan-2024!
[Region of Queens Municipality:] Due to pending Provincial EPR legislation; effective January 1, 2024, Queens County residents WILL BE REQUIRED to separate recyclable paper materials from recyclable containers. Paper materials such as paper, boxboard and cardboard all go into the same blue or clear bag. Cardboard can also be tied into bundles no larger than 2ft x 3ft. Plastic, tin, aluminum, glass and all other containers go into a separate blue or clear bag. In the Region of Queens, [household] waste collection is every second week as indicated on your 2024 Waste Collection Schedule. Green carts, blue bags and garbage (black) bags are picked up on the same day.
Place materials into the grey community garbage boxes by 8:00am on collection day …
Please note: household waste only!
Bulky items, electronics, appliances, construction debris, metal, wood, yard & leaf waste, a.s.o are not allowed during regular waste collection.
Card board has to be flattened, bundled & tied and placed into the garbage bin or next to it (beware of impending rain).
Remember that shopping/grocery bags are NOT allowed as garbage bags! No loose items in the garbage bins!
