Power Outage, 30-Mar-2017

The ice rain stopped  sometime yesterday afternoon only to be replaced by strong winds. Since the temperature was still around the freezing point and trees were still laden with all the ice, these winds then caused more power disruptions today in the FoxCreek community.

A power flicker happend at 12:29pm followed by a short outage from 2:28pm to 2:47pm.

The FoxCreek community was lucky to have had the power back yesterday evening as parts of Mill Village were without power until today evening!

FOXweather was not affected and data was updated and broadcasted during the outage.

FOXlive was updated but did not broadcast its data during the short outage.

No weather data was lost.

Power Outage, 29-Mar-2017

Today again the FoxCreek community lost power due to the ice rain.

It started with a power flicker at 8:24am and power was completely lost from 9:41am to 7:24pm.

FOXweather was not affected and data was updated and broadcasted during the outage.

FOXlive was updated but only broadcasted its data from 2:14pm on (when we fired up the generator).

Though no weather data was lost.

The FoxCreek community experienced a power outage from 28-Mar-2017/08:28am to 10:45am.
Before there was a power flicker around 07:11am.

Another power outage occurred from 1:54pm to 2:04pm.

FOXweather was not affected and data was updated and broadcasted during the outage.

FOXlive was updated but unable to broadcast its data.

No weather data was lost.

Port Medway was settled around 1760 by fishermen who helped develop this area into a thriving shipping community. Cargoes of salted and dried fish were shipped to the United States, the Caribbean, and South America. Lumber from the sawmills of Greenfield, Charleston, and Mill Village were loaded on ships and sailed to foreign ports.  Read the full story …

[update] NS Spring Weight Restrictions in Effect

Spring weight restrictions came into effect for provincial roads in Queens County on 6-Mar-2017.

[Update 11-Apr-2017] The Spring Weight Restrictions have been extend to and including 7-May-2017!!!
FoxCreek community road maintenance will commence in the week of 8-May-2017 earliest.

QPEC included in National Tour by Canadian Music Icons

[Region of Queens Municipality, 10-Mar-2017, Liverpool, NS]: 2017 is the year of great Canadian entertainment at Queens Place Emera Centre in Liverpool, NS. Eight time Juno award winning band the Barenaked Ladies will perform at Queens Place Emera Centre on Friday, October 20th, as part of their Canada 1 Five 0 Tour.

Mill Village School could become International Boarding School

[The Advance, 1-Mar-2017]  A local non-profit organization received Council approval to pursue their plan to convert the former Mill Village School into an international boarding school for a price of $1.00, says a release from the Region of Queens Municipality.

Region of Queens to Sell Former School to Non Profit Organization

[Region of Queens Municipality, March 1, 2017] A local non profit organization received Council approval to pursue their plan to convert the former Mill Village School into an international boarding school.

At the February 28, 2017 Regular Council meeting, the Council of the Region of Queens Municipality approved giving notice of its intention to enter into a Purchase and Sale Agreement with The Devi International Boarding School Society for the sale of the former Mill Village School property, located at 227 Medway River Road, Mill Village, NS, for a sale price of $1.00.
