Nova Scotia Burning Restrictions 2015 in effect

Please be aware that as of 22-Apr-2015 the Nova Scotia Burning Restrictions for 2015 are in effect until 15-Oct-2015.

During this Wildfire Risk Season brush burning and camp fires are NOT permitted in any county from 8 in the morning (8am/08:00h) to 2 in the afternoon (2pm/14:00h).
At all other times it is mandatory to consult the Nova Scotia Burning Restrictions before starting a fire of any kind outdoors.

Outlook for the 2015 Hurricane Season in the Atlantic

The 2015 Atlantic hurricane season will have its official start on June 1st and it will last until November 30th. Many people live around the Gulf of Mexico or go to the Caribbean to enjoy their holidays during these months and many forecasters have already embarked to Mexico and Caribbean on preparedness missions. So, let’s take a look at the early outlook for this season.

The Colorado State University (CSU) has released its outlook at the beginning of April and it forecasts one of the least active in decades. According to this estimate, there could be seven named storms and three hurricanes. Just one is projected to attain major hurricane status. These numbers are well below the 30-year average of 12 named storms, six hurricanes, and three major hurricanes

Spring Clean-Up 2015

Spring clean-up (Sperrgut) for the FoxCreek community takes place in the week starting Monday,  27-Apr-2015 on the regular collection day.

Place items next to the grey community garbage box by Monday morning.

Generally, items acceptable for pick-up are over-sized items and items not regularly collected on your regular collection day. These items shall not exceed 150 lbs. in weight or 6 feet in length.

Items that will NOT be collected are Leaf and Yard Waste, Household Hazardous Waste, Building Demolition Waste, Tires, Propane Tanks and Electronics (Computers and TVs, etc.).

Please keep your regular household garbage (green bags), blue bags, cardboard and compost separate from the spring clean-up items.

Nova Scotia Burning Restrictions 2015

Note: Nova Scotia’s Wildfire Risk Season, set to begin March 15, 2015, has been delayed for 2015 due to extreme winter conditions. Wildfire Risk Season is now set to begin April 22, 2015, pending re-evaluation of weather conditions at that time. Burning restrictions described below will be in effect from April 22, 2015 to October 15, 2015.

During Wildfire Risk Season brush burning and camp fires are not permitted in any county from 8 in the morning (8am) to 2 in the afternoon (2pm).

Blue Rodeo to Perform at Queens Place Emera Centre

[Region of Queens Municipality] April 1, 2015, Liverpool, NS: One of Canada’s best known musical groups is coming to Liverpool, NS this summer. An evening with legendary Canadian rockers, Blue Rodeo will take place on Friday, July 10, 2015 at Queens Place Emera Centre, Liverpool, Nova Scotia. Showtime is 9:00 p.m.
