[update] NS Spring Weight Restrictions in Effect

Spring weight restrictions came into effect for provincial roads in Queens County on 6-Mar-2017.

[Update 11-Apr-2017] The Spring Weight Restrictions have been extend to and including 7-May-2017!!!
FoxCreek community road maintenance will commence in the week of 8-May-2017 earliest.

There are two equinoxes every year – in March and September – when the Sun shines directly on the equator and the length of night and day are nearly equal, but not quite.

Spring in the north, fall in the south

Spring 2016 is coming early …

… at least according to Shubenacadie Sam. Nova Scotia’s furry forecaster Shubenacadie Sam is forecasting an early end to winter.

Sam popped out of his burrow at about 8am today, and because of the partially cloudy skies overhead, did not see his shadow. And as the legend goes, winter will now end early! Yay!

Groundhog Day (5)Though, had Sam been on the South Shore this morning, maybe the outcome would have been different – at 8am another gorgeous winter day evolved with the sun already shining brightly.

Whether or not you buy into the folklore, Sam’s credibility is likely at an all-time high. Last year, he predicted a long winter and Nova Scotia was slammed with one of the worst on record.
