Groundhog Day is the day that, according to legend, a groundhog will predict how much longer winter will last in the northern hemisphere.
Groundhog Day is observed each year on February 2nd – which for 2016 will be next Tuesday.

There are two equinoxes every year – in March and September – when the Sun shines directly on the equator and the length of night and day are nearly equal, but not quite.
