Changes in Sorting Your Blue Bag !!!

NEW: 2 Blue/Clear Bag System effective 1-Jan-2024!

[Region of Queens Municipality:] Due to pending Provincial EPR legislation; effective January 1, 2024, Queens County residents WILL BE REQUIRED to separate recyclable paper materials from recyclable containers. Paper materials such as paper, boxboard and cardboard all go into the same blue or clear bag. Cardboard can also be tied into bundles no larger than 2ft x 3ft. Plastic, tin, aluminum, glass and all other containers go into a separate blue or clear bag. More information is included in the 2024 Waste Schedule and Sorting Guide (see below) or call 902-354-7170 for any assistance, or try the Waste Collection App.

Daylight Saving Time (DST) ends in USA and Canada !!!

The term “spring forward – fall back” is meant to trigger your memory to set your clocks forward one hour in the spring at the start of DST, and one hour back in the fall when DST ends.

DST-1In most of the United States, Canada, and Mexico’s northern border cities when local daylight time is about to reach Sunday, 5-Nov-2023, 02:00h (2am) clocks are turned backward 1 hour to Sunday, 5-Nov- 2023, 01:00h (1am) local standard time instead!

Sunrise and sunset will be about 1 hour earlier on 5-Nov-2023 than the day before. There will be more light in the morning.

The next Daylight Saving Time starts on 11-Mar-2024.

Burning Restrictions lifted for Season 2023

Wildfire Risk Season 2023 ended.
Burning restrictions are lifted as of 16-Oct-2023 until and including 14-Mar-2024.

The 2023 fire-risk season has come to an end and you no longer need to check daily for permission to burn (domestic) brush or have a campfire.

FoxCreek Community Access Roads Graded

On 12-May-2023 both our access roads to the FoxCreek community
Old Kettle Rd from Mill Village to the Fox Creek turnaround
Medway Harbour Rd, from Hwy 331 to the turnaround
have been graded and “leveled”.
